The Building Diagnostics Research Institute, Inc. (BDRI) is an independent, not-for-profit research organization, devoted to bringing the highest level of research, training and public outreach to issues related to building performance, occupant health, safety, environmental security, and productivity. BDRI is recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization by the IRS.

Our mission is to leverage more than 25 years of building diagnostics experience in order to enhance health, safety, security and productivity. Our mission will be implemented by conducting basic and applied research, providing education and training for health and building professionals, disseminating knowledge and serving as an advocate for the general public.

Our vision is to measurably increase the understanding that use of quantitative, reliable and accurate methods of diagnosing the performance of virtual and actual buildings can lead to high rates of return on investments. Return on investment is valued in terms of improved health and occupant performance, improved system performance, increased environmental security, and increased energy efficiency. We envision that this increased understanding will be achieved through interdisciplinary leadership that focuses on developing and validating building performance Diagnostics protocols, and providing training and outreach for the general public, policy makers and building owners, and those responsible for the design, construction and operations of buildings.
